Bridge Hill, Belper
« on: Tuesday 18 July 23 09:39 BST (UK) »
I see baptisms said to be at 'Bridge Hill', Belper, and also see Bridge Hill 'parish' as the place of removal for people who were buried in Belper cemetery. What does Bridge Hill refer to - a church?
Thanks.

Hi Morris,

"Bridge Hill" is an ecclesiastical district, the C of E parish church is named Christ Church. Baptisms start for Christ Church in 1946.

Re cemetery records will be indicating which "Parish" the deceased was from.

The registers commence in 1845, according to Kelly's Directory of Derbyshire, 1941, which says it was formed in 1845 out of Duffield parish.
