Wow you have been busy. Thank you
I have from FindMyPast RC census 1893 The Oratory Westminster 8 Oakham Charles Place
Caroline West b 1879
Henry West 1880
Ellen McGrath 1890
Margaret McGrath 1892
Jane McGrath 1893

Also a Margaret McGrath no age or birth year so over 21 and married so I think this could be Cathetone/Kate

So still  need to find birth references if they were registered

Many thanks for your help

Yes, that is what I thought.
I wonder if the Margaret you mention from Catherine’s death certificate is Mary?
Did you download the Oratory information?

Hi Heywood
Yes I have downloaded the Oratory information. And I have ordered the 2 death certs that you mentioned. if correct that will be 2 of her 6 that she has lost.
On Ancestry there is an Ellen McGrath on some other trees looks like she marries in 1910 to John Fraser Johnson at The Oratory Church Kensington.
Will tyr and look into Mary after lunch suppose she could be a West or Mcgrath 1901 census born abt 1882.

I thought I read that the Oratory information contained quite a bit of detail. Was there anything of any help?

Was your ancestor a good Catholic or bad Catholic? Explore thousands of names from this Roman Catholic census and discover more about your ancestor.

The records provide you with a transcription and an image of the original census record. Similar to other census records, you will be able to see the names of other people listed in the census at the same residence. The detail in each record can vary, but most will include the following:

Name
Age – only recorded if the individual was under the age of 21
Birth year
Occupation
Criminal risk
House
Street
Parish
Mission
Deanery
Diocese
Ecclesiastical province
The images will give you additional details about ancestor including the following facts:

Occupation
Did the individual attend mass?
Did the individual participate in Easter duties?
Did the individual receive confirmation?
If married, was the marriage a mixed [religion] marriage?First name(s)

Margaret
House 8
Last name McGrath
Street Oakham Charles Place
Birth year -
Mission The Oratory
Parish The Oratory
Deanery Kensington & Chelsea
Diocese Westminster
Ecclesiastical province Westminster
County Middlesex
Category Census, land & surveys
Married Y
Subcategory Census
Mixed marriage N
For the children – did the child attend Catholic or non-Catholic school?
Is the child’s faith in danger?
Is the child in imminent danger of joining the criminal classes?
Remarks – In this field you can find notes about the local priest’s opinion of the individual or family such as, ‘good poor family’, ‘trustworthy’, ‘living on charity’, or ‘bad Catholics’.
Caroline   West   -   1879
Henry   West   -   1880
Ellen   McGrath   -   1890
Margaret   McGrath   -   1892
Jane   McGrath

Yes it has helped, do you know how often these RC Census were taken.
I also have a child Anthony McGrath born 1897 is on 1901 census in 1911 census he is with mother she is calling herself Catherine West, Carrie West & Anthony West also a boarder Agnes Condon .  Condon was Catherine's maiden name . If Anthony was born in  1897 then Catherine was married to James McGrath. I think Anthony was married in 1918 to Marie L Sparks I can't see any children he died in 1950 and is buried Kensington & Chelsea buried in Common Ground a RC buried with his mother in law.

Not having any luck yet with Mary West

That was the info about the information I read  ::)
I was hoping for baptism dates.
I am not sure but I doubt there would be other diocesan censuses.
From that info on FindMyPast
“The census was instated by the Archbishop of Westminster Herbert Vaughan when he first arrived in the diocese.”
