Wilson family of Seacon, Ballymoney
« on: Friday 21 July 23 05:07 BST (UK) »
Does any one have any history of the Wilson family that lived at Seacon in Ballymoney? My connection is to the James Wilson with spouse Mary and family Sarah, Mary and James named in the 1817 census for 1st Ballymoney Presbyterian Church by Rev Park as being from Seacon.
The daughter Mary is my Gt Gt Grandmother.
Any earlier information on the family would be helpful. Jame's spouse was Mary Stewart.

Some more information on the James Wilson that I am seeking.
James died 17th March 1875 at Carrowreagh, Billy parish Antrim, aged 88 so born about 1787
There were Wilson names in the 1803 Agricultural census at Seacon Ballymoney so they must have been land owners.

Yes James Wilson is named in Bill Mcaffee's 1803 Agriculturel report at Seacon Ballymoney.
Not in the Flax growerers report for 1796.There is a Wilson family at Tops Ballymoney but do not know if there is any connection.

from Bill McAffee;s records for the 1640 Hearth money rolls I Quote.
these were the Wilsons in the 1640 Hearth money Rolls ( those that had an indoor fireplace)

1133   Wilson   Wilson   George   Dunluce Upper   Ballymoney   Ballyboylands   Ballytulling
1135   Wilson   Wilsone   John   Dunluce Upper   Ballymoney   Ballyboylands   Ballytulling
1024   Wilson   Wilsone   James   Dunluce Upper   Ballymoney   Ballymoney Town   Ballymoney Towne
942   Wilson   Wilson   John   Dunluce Upper   Ballymoney   Ballymoney Town   Ballymoney Towne
1149   Wilson   Wilsone   James   Dunluce Upper   Ballymoney   Ballynamenagh   2 Qrs of Ballinemanoch
1323   Wilson   Wilsone   James   Dunluce Upper   Ballymoney   Seacon Lower   4 Qr of Sicone Irish
1327   Wilson   Wilsone   Wm   Dunluce Upper   Ballymoney   Seacon Lower   8 Qr of Sicone Irish

There was a James Wilson and a Wm Wilson in Seacon in 1640, Surely there must be some records of this family that has lived in the same area for at least 200 years

I would like to confirm a marriage record I have from the Dunseveric Church that Sarah Wilson daughter of James Wilson of Carrowreagh married James Francis Lannigan 6th Nov 1866.
Would that also be in the Civil Records?
