Lookup for Pre 1855 Monumental Inscriptions in Kilmarnock & Loudoun
« on: Friday 21 July 23 07:30 BST (UK) »
Would anyone have a copy of the booklet "Pre 1855 Gravestone Inscriptions in Kilmarnock and Loudoun District" which I believe includes Kilmaurs Cemetery and could do a lookup please?

I have found my listed as family as Robert Parker died 1825 and Mary Ramage/Rammage died 1829 in the Kilmaurs Cemetery as part of the Ancestry.com Scotland, Burial Monument Inscriptions database.  It shows a photo of a very weathered gravestone and I am hoping that more information may have been recorded from the gravestone back in the 1980s.  This booklet was published by the Scottish Genealogy Society.
Thank you for any help.

108. Erected by Robert ......, Robert Parker died 12.5.182(0) aged 28 years, wife Mary Ramage died 31.1.1829 aged 55 years

uncertain details are in brackets
missing words (e.g. on badly eroded stones) are shown as ......

108 is just the number assigned to the grave in the book.

Hope that helps

Thank you S_L for the transcript.  The stone must have been pretty eroded back in the 1980s.  Robert Parker was the father of Robert aged 28 who died (according to the record on ancestry.com) in 1825 which fits with the birth of Robert in 1797.  Robert the father must have had the stone erected which was new to me.
And thank you Colin for your posts.  I did have that information except for the last birth entry you have.  I'll look into that one.
Thanks again
