SECOND UPDATE:

I just received the certificate! Took less than 24 hours.

Even better, it is the right man! The witness to the death was my great-great-grandfather (there is no doubt about this, as the family farm had a very unique name, which was included as the residence of the informant). Based on the age, I am certain this is his father, i.e. my 3xGG.
