Hi,
I am looking for information on John Simpson born about 1815, Kirkcaldy, Fife his wife Jane Davidson born about 1815, Edinburgh, they had 2 children Jane born 15/11/1840, Gorbals, Glasgow, John born about 1842, Edinburgh, can't find a marriage for John and Jane, or a birth for John. I have the family on the 1851 census which was recorded in Dundee. I have found Jane Simpson on the 1881 census as a sick nurse, recorded in Dundee,  she married a David Wright in Dundee and John Simpson married Elizabeth Henderson.

I hope someone can help.

He is the only one in Kirkcaldy 1813-1817 on SP but 5 others in Fife.

I do not see Jane in Edinburgh same period but a few Janet's and they can be interchangeable on ocassions.

Some details on that 1853 death which help to exclude him:

Age 35
Born in Armagh
Labourer
Drowned - found in Ferry Harbour at Craig, Dundee
Rose Street, Rosebank

Added: Just noticed that this entry is a good fit but there is a difference with the burial date.

I note the record you have posted is burial, I wonder if the SP is the death date?

What does the original record on SP say?



Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
