Which ann Welbourn in Denton
« on: Monday 24 July 23 05:53 BST (UK) »
I have Ann Welbourn as sister to my 3G Grandfather born in Denton 1791.  Her parents are John Welbourn and Ann Waud. In searching for more on Ann I found a husband listed in Find My Past / Lincolnshire Parish registers, Richard Thurlby.
My concern is in FamilySearch he is shown with an Ann Welbourn with different parents.  Are there available records that list parents in the marriage records?
Thanks for your time!

Looking at      freereg

Her mother's name of Waud is also transcribed as Wand..so

 Richard Thurlby of Denton
 Ann Welbourn of Denton.
Witnesses Wm and John Auger and additional witnesses M Welbourn & Mary Wand
With consent of parents.

There is another Ann baptised in 1796 to Edward and Sarah.

If Ann, born 1791, is the person who married Richard Thurlby in 1813, then she would not have required "Consent of parents" as she would have been 22.  But Ann born 1796 would have been aged 17.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

That's a good point. The Ann b 1796 has parents Edward and Sarah new Smith. It was the Wand/ Waud connection that was interesting.

As yet I cannot see a later marriage for Ann 1796

The 1841-51 censuses give her birth as 1791-2, and her burial in 1868 as born 1793.

The baptism on 31st October 1791 has parents John and Ann. John married Ann Waud on 3rd January 1790 in Denton.

Edward and John appear to be brothers, sons of Thomas and Mary Welbourn nee Twelch of Woolsthorpe married by license 22 February 1758

Children
Thomas bap 23 May 1758
Frances bap 29 November 1759*
**Edward  bap 30 August 1761
Will bap 4 September 1763
John bap 25 August 1765 buried 3 June 1770
George bap 28 September 1767
Mary bap 15 October 1769 *
**John bap 23 September 1772
Ann bap 19 June 1774

When Frances married Joseph Bullimore 14 June 1779 witness her father Thomas  (edited her brother Thomas died 1770) so it couldn't be him

Mary married JOHN AUGER 24 June 1790 witness her brother Will/William

-----
JOHN Auger is a witness to the marriage of Ann to Robert Thurlby along with William Auger.

Are they sons of John and Mary and therefore cousins to Ann, again which one?
Edward and Sarah's or John and Ann's

Can anyone read the public photo on ancestry of the grave of Edward Welbourn died 1845 age 84

It lists his wife Sarah and sons and daughters, one of which is Ann

If I could find the image, I'd have a look.  I only have access to ancestry,co.uk  :-\

ADDED:  And I can't see a death registration in 1845 for Edward Welbourn!

Burial of Edward is from Freereg  age 84 at Denton on 29 December 1845.

1841 census Denton he is living alone - Ind.  I was hoping he left a will.
