Thank you Louisa, the shipping record sounds interesting, can you remember which site it was on?
The similar names/dates have been tricky but I ordered a will which has filled in some gaps so have taken the plunge and ordered what I hope is the right marriage record. If it is then it might just help with his wife's family. I don't think he married abroad but anything's possible
If I am on the right track in 1955 a Charles Henry Blake sailed from Liverpool to Lagos, he was H M Customs, shown as living Rickmansworth and married
1939 Frances Mary Blake was born, mother's maiden name Mckinney , is it possible he married abroad?
There is a family tree online with C H Blake , same date of birth but not married to Mary Jane .
Have you looked for a will for either of these 2?
