Forestgate school entry records where to source
« on: Tuesday 25 July 23 06:20 BST (UK) »
Hi
i am seeking information on a George Lamb born abt 1878 in London died 1932 Gravesend Kent .working backwards from his marriage in 1908 in Belfast where he was a soldier with a father called George i am trying to confirm who his parents where .i do have a possible family but have some doubts and would appreciate any help/advice
1891 George Lamb age 13 born Whitechapel aboard the training ship Exmouth docked on the river Thames off Grays he then was discharged to the First batallion Royal Irish Rifles
The Forestgate record i can see on ancestry   says he was discharged on the 15th of January 1890 age 12 the reason given for entry was deserted no further information  available to view. Do entry registers exist ?? and if so where would i look .
Looking at the 1881 census i can see a George with Father George age 33 mother Susan age 31 siblings Elizabeth age 9 Elenor age 1 living in 8 Mark Place Haggerston.
any help would be much appreciated
kind regards

George Lamb, 6, to Forest Gate School from Whitechapel Union, 9 October 1884
Elizabeth Lamb, 13, and Frances Lamb, 4, to Forest Gate on the 23rd. Are they related to George?
No details of relatives of these children

Another possible record for George on the next two images

Elenor, 1, could be Frances Eleanor, and thus the Frances Lamb going to Forest Gate School in 1884?

Hi
thankyou so much for having a look at this for me yes this is what i've been looking at but was unsure if  i was definitely looking at the right family so thought if admission records for Forestgate where available that would be the way to try and confirm The mother of these children Susan/Susannah died in 1882 death registered Shoreditch  by husband George,so maybe the children where deserted by their father if he found it hard to cope with little children. who's death i think i've found in 1919 he was alive in 1908 on George's marriage certificate.
thankyou for taking time to look at this
kind regards

Hi
There doesn't seem to be a great deal more for Forest Gate School at the LMA.
Also, I think the surviving records of the Whitechapel Union are not plentiful (other than the Infirmary registers).
