Jona Yeomans
« on: Tuesday 25 July 23 09:21 BST (UK) »
Good Evening all, I have had a break from searching ancestors at the moment, but I have a query regarding my ancestor Jona or Joan Yeomans from Bristol area, she married a Peter Heiley around 1633 would like to find the proper marriage date also her burial date. I have records stating that she was 10 years old when she married Peter Heiley, also apparantly he married twice. When their daughter Joan was born around 1649 her father Peter was listed only not the mother, Joan married in 1670 to Thomas Pearce Bristol Quakers this is a well set out record. :) I am just making sure of the proper dates their is so much on Ancestry and FindMyPast I am unsure of the correct records. Would love to connect to someone else who also is searching this family. :-[ :-\

There is a burial in the Bristol Quaker records for Jone Hyli Alias Eely, widow and an "ancient friend" on the 28th of the 8th month 1687. The transcriber has  recorded month as October which would be the 8th month because years used to start on Lady day in March.

Peter was buried in 1875 1675 (12th of 5th month) again date transcribed as two month later (July), so predeceased Jone

I wonder how old you had to be in order to called ancient!

where did you get these dates from? Images of Quaker burial records are on Ancestry. The link to the article I posted above also sates peter died 1675 not 1699

There is a Peter Hiley buried in Poole in 1672 - he is styled as "Mr" so must have some status.
There are earlier baptisms for children of Peter Hiley and Edieth his wife. In one instance Peter is given the title worshipful. The burial could be this Peter or his son also called Peter. He would not be your Peter from Bristol.

To add to the Dorset Peter Hileys, it looks like Edieth must have died and Peter married a rachel, because the last children baptised record her as the mother and she is granted administration in 1672. Peter jnr bapt 1657 (Edieth's son) is probably the 1699 burial.
