I can't keep up with all this!

Just read a UK paper from 1887 which says she was the daughter of  Mr Smith a New Orleans cotton broker, her first husband (divorced) was John Staymaker (father of William Ralph - and I assume Dot) -.  Lee Young was her second husband, she got a separation from him , and then Stephen Rawson.

So wealthy - lots of people she could have inherited from.
-----
Just read {Evening star. [volume], September 11, 1886, Page 2, Image 2) (thanks for the US Newspaper link, Hanes teulu)
that she was married at 15 to Mr Slaymaker of New Orleans, divorced from him due to his drunkenness, then married to C G Lee of Mississippi, followed by a divorce on similar grounds.

With all this background it is amazing that when her daughter Dot marries in 1894 she is stated to be  "the daughter of Mrs M L Lee of New Orleans and a prominent member of a family well known in the Southern States".  Guess well-known could equate to notorious???

The search key "meckie rawson" produces the reports of her son shooting her husband's, her shooting her husband's divorce lawyer and her aquital in 1889 -"temporary insanity" (a real potboiler!).

I am looking for the family of Meckie L Lee who died 2 March 1913 in Los Angeles.

I cannot find a death registration for Meckie,

Her death records have her listed as America L Lee, born in New Orleans, daughter of T.B. Smith.
