Missing children
« on: Sunday 30 July 23 19:41 BST (UK) »
Hi recently l found a newspaper report of children being neglected this was Prescot  Widnes 1893,, the parents were sentenced to l months hard labour, later that year l found the mother died after confinement, her child also died a few months later, l cannot find the husband or the children lm assuming they went into a workhouse or some kind of care,
The family are on previous census living in various streets in Widnes area  the oldest child was named John mulligan he, was 13 yrs in the report, other children are Catherine, Ellen, Mary, and Martin he was about  1yr,, then the last child that died was Thomas,,, the parents were both Irish,, Michael and Bridget mulligan she was a mulroy previously,, lm hoping somone may behable to point me in the right direction where l may find where the children or father may have ended up,, the oldest boy named John lm hoping went to sea as this is the person im researching  thanks eda

This family in Bradford in 1901 is a bit confusing

Martin Mulligan 44 b Ireland
Catherine Mulligan   42 b Wales
Mary Mulligan   18  b Widnes
Ellen Mulligan     9 b Widnes
John Mulligan 20  b Widnes
Marton Mulligan    8    b Widnes

Only Martin Mulligan with Widnes connections I can find anywhere

Although the family you have posted have the same children's names, it's not the family,, my post gives Michael and Bridget mulligan being the parents of these children, they were living 19 water Street 1891,,/93,, Bridget died oct 1893,, l believe,, l have researched the family , you have posted as l beleive the two men are brothers,,, l have the their children on the 1911 census living in Blackburn Moor Street, they are all married, living with Samuel beardmore and his wife Catherine,, (was mulligan)
I cannot find a marriage for Martin and Catherine mulligan,, in a census if says she was born Wales about 1859,,
