Joseph Butt's marraige
« on: Monday 31 July 23 09:35 BST (UK) »
Morning rootschatters,
I was just wondering if someone would be able to check a marraige for me.
I've been trying to find a marraige for Joseph Butt born Blandford area 1772,and can't find anything in Dorset, however I came across one through familysearch to a Ann Clark in Middlesex in 1796.
Most other records just have her down as Ann.
It would be interesting to know if it has his dad down as John.
Cheers thanks.

The 1796 marriage entry does not show the name of the father and the witnesses do not appear to be related as the same names appear on other entries.

Joseph Butt   Christening 26 December 1772 Blandford St Mary, Dorset   Parents John Butt, Ann Butt.

Just confirming previous post.

The marriage you refer to on freereg. Records at that time rarely note parents, at best they may have been a witness.

Ann CLARK to Joseph BUTT   Marriage   25 Jul 1796   Middlesex   St Marylebone : St Mary le Bone

Both single Witnesses Thomas BIRD & John WILLOCK

Notes   Ann Clark (X). By Chas Brent Barry

There are 3 other marriages on freereg for Joseph Butt, 1790 – 1810, none in Dorset.

I noticed this marriage on family search, are they the parents of Joseph below?

John Butt   Marriage 5 November 1770 Blandford St Mary, Dorset   Spouse Ann Williams

Joseph Butt Christening 26 December 1772 Blandford St Mary, Dorset   Parents John Butt, Ann Butt

The record for Joseph is also on freereg plus about 8 other children, parents John & Ann.

Then in 1800 William below appears, Parents Joseph & Ann, are these the ones you are researching?

William BUTT Baptism   12 Oct 1800   Dorset   Blandford St Mary : St Mary : Parish Register

This appears to be their only child?

There is this burial age 28, could be above but no detail.

William BUTT  Burial   23 Aug 1829   Dorset   Blandford St Mary : St Mary : Parish Register

So what happened to Joseph & Ann?

Hi again,
There are other children to Joseph and Ann in the same place, and I had a message from elsewhere that Joseph was George Butt's dad.
George is there with the right birth date
