Mary MacLeod (1806-???)
« on: Monday 31 July 23 19:30 BST (UK) »
Mary MacLeod was born in Lochbroom and died somewhere.  I found her in the 1881 census with family members as Shandwick Farm Servts, Logie Easter, Ross and Cromarty.  She was aged 75 and a widow.

1881 census Shandwick Farm Servts, Logie Easter, Ross and Cromarty, Scotland
John MacLeod 34, Mary MacLeod widow 75, Christina 42, Flora 40, Catherine McKenzie niece 15, and Hugh McKenzie nephew 13.  All these MacLeods were born in Coigach.

I tried to find the death cert. in Scotland's people but turned up the wrong Mary twice.

Does anyone know which death is hers?  I am trying to find the parents names of the widow of Hugh MacLeod and expect her maiden name to also be MacLeod.

Thanks for any help.

I didn't download the childrens' birth registrations.  The husband's death cert. in 1867 indicates he was married to Mary MacLeod.  Informant was Murdoch MacLeod.  I found them in the 1871 census for Nigg at Castle Craig.

In 1871 Castle Craig, Nigg, ROC: Mary 64, Christina 30, Flora 29, John 22, Margaret gr-daughter 10, Catherine mackenzie gr-daughter 5 and Hugh McKenzie 3.

Do you know who daughter Christina married?

I saw this 1891 census entry and wondered if it was mother and daughter:

Jaspar Graham 82 Formerly Gravedigger  b. Nigg
Christina Graham 55 Grave Digger's Wife b. Coygach, Ross
Mary MacLeod 82 Mother-in-law b. Coygach, Ross

Address Farm of Nigg, Nigg

That was one of my mistakes.

At first it looked like a good fit but the death cert. indicated widow of Norman MacLeod.  I therefore believe unless they all moved out of ROC.  Mary died before 1891 and after 1881.  Finding John, Christina, or Flora after 1881 has been a problem too.
