Thanks Shaun I read the article and according to my new research George would have been at Passchendaele / 3 battle Ypres in 1917 when he Died. Reckon this would have been a terrible War. Thanks again.

The Btn. wasn't involved in anything particular in early Oct. 1917
However the C.O. states on the 29th. Sept. that since going into the line
on the 21st. there had been a steady flow of casualties due to shelling.
In total there were 107 O.R's wounded during that period.
The line being at Hill 60, the spoil bank & Fusilier wood all pretty much in the same sector.

Here's a map of the 3 locations they were manning from the 21st.-29th. Sept 1917.
This map is from 1916 & before hill 60 was blown up.
All the red lines were German trenches now occupied by the British.
The Germans weren't far at Zillebeke just to the right of this map.
As they occupied the high ground they had a good view of the British lines
& any movement would have prompted shelling.
As you can see the area the 7th. were operating in covers quite a large area
& just getting there would have been hazardous.

As he died from wounds on the 6th. Oct. would indicate he
received them at the later part of the dates so probably 27th.-29th.
The medical route would have first taken him to an Advanced Dressing Station (ADS)
where he would have stayed for just a few hours while waiting to be transferred
to a Casualty Clearing Station (CCS) when he would have had more intense surgery.
He could have been there for a number of days.
The next stage would have been a Field Hospital but unfortunately he died before
that happened.
