Today, vapcq45 said I will hunt now for the War diary for 2nd Bn....someone may have it, or will go to the NA. -- the National Archives have the Battalion's war diaries, the one that covers October 1918 is (see image) and the link is below.

I have found him Le Catelet Action he's listed in the diary on ancestry on 23/10/18 he was wounded in this action too

Seems strange when he is shown as being returned to the UK on the 7th October aboard the Gloucester Castle.

Wounded in action at Le Catelet between 3/7th Oct where his actions were noted and was put forward for MM which was awarded and  entered into war diary on 23/10
He was a LCpl at the time and his number in brackets next to J Bryant

So he would have been evacuated back to UK after wounding

Fantastic!  I've just downloaded the Diary from the NA and will look him up in that page now.  And also go through the rest. 

Amazed the diary was there for download, so pleased.

Wounded in action at Le Catelet between 3/7th Oct

As he was admitted to No 2 General Hospital on the 5th October, the date of his wounding is narrowed down to the 3rd or 4th October.
