He married his second wife as Reginald Walter SUMMERTON, probably because he was a bigamist.  His repatriation file states that he had no children.

His service record and repatriation file are digitised on the NAA website.  Just search for Walter Edward Summerton.

Thanks again Dundee and Cando, he really was a CAD!!!

My Great Aunty Kate was better off without him!!  I'm thinking now that she had no children to Summerton and as she was 40 when she married Ashworth she appears not to have had children with Ashworth either.  Well I can't find any in VIC or NSW.

So Kate Ada and Walter married in NSW in 1912.
Then Kate Ada married Alfred Ashworth in Victoria in 1925.
Then Walter married Eva Brimson in Queensland in 1938.

Who was the bigamist first?
Milligan - Jardine – Glencross – Dinwoodie - Brown: (Dumfriesshire & Kirkcudbrightshire)
Clark – Faulds – Cuthbertson – Bryson – Wilson: (Ayrshire & Renfrewshire)
Neale – Cater – Kinder - Harrison: (Warwickshire & Queensland)
Roberts - Spry: (Cornwall, Middlesex & Queensland)
Munster: (Schleswig-Holstein & Queensland) and Plate: (Braunschweig, Neubruck & Queensland & New York)

Dundee, I read all 244 pages of his record.  Well done you for finding the Statement of lies.  He also listed my Kate Ada as his NOK on his WW1 enlistment.

He did go on to have a sad ending.

Yes, great find Debra. A bit sad all round.  And like Neale, I was thinking Kate also must have been a bigamist. I wonder what marital status she put on her second marriage?
