Does he name a father on his marriage cert?

Occasionally an illegitimate child knows his fathers name or has contact with him.  However - it's usually a giveaway if the father shown on a marriage cert has the same surname.  Many illegitimate children made up a fathers name so as to appear "respectable"

In 1911, Catherine Ebenezer, age 20, single, was working as a domestic servant in the house of John Jones (farmer) in Lledrod Upper.
Two other servants living there at the time of the census: Evan Lewis age 17 and Daniel Jones age 16.
I suppose that either of these 2 young men, as well as the head of the house, are potential fathers.

Catherine had 2 illegitimate sons - they may (or may not) have the same fathers

Kate was my aunt's aunt and she says that both boys, Dan Charles and John Aeron, were fathered by John Jones (see the 1921 census).  Kate was his housekeeper - to keep her job, she had to provide 'extra services'.

The boys were brought up by their grandmother.
