Ah, Rose Clarke rings a bell, think I've got dna matches. This is amazing.
Thanks once again.

Using the naming phylosophy used at that time, I would have expected the 1st son to be named John after Arthur's father & the 2nd to be named Matthew after Rosana's father. ie Matthew Flynn.

Although Arthur's wife was Rosana, I expect their child, Rosana was named after Arthur's Mother.

Hi, if Arthur was baptised, as a baby, in 1819, he would have been too young to marry rose flynn??????
I'll have a good look at this later. Someone has his parents as Henry Hughes and Jane Kearney/Cairney/Cairnie. Worth checking.

Hi, quick update. I've got a very good dna match going back to Liverpool with father Peter Hughes. Peter shows up as quite a common first name with the Hughes matches I've got
Once I have thoroughly looked into this I'll post up my findings for others.
Thanks again to all the replies. I really feel this is a true breakthrough- after years of research.

"Arthur dies before 1851 census has Rose as widow with other child Rose."

Can you describe the people you are seeing in the 1851 Census....ages/birthplace/address.

It would be useful to see this Census entry.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Yes, and in the 1861 census, Arthur jnr is with the Carolan family.noted as nephew.
Margaret Carolan maiden name was Hughes. Marriage found but no mention of Margaret's father.
I'm actually researching this couple at the moment. Looking for any clues.
I had said I have an dna match going back to Liverpool, sorry, it was Edinburgh. I'm trying to connect it all. Luckily the Scottish records are more informative!
Thanks
