Thomas Piggott of Ruscombe, Berkshire left a will dated 1809:
https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D742642

It mentions a son called Richard.

He also mentions his wife, Jane. The baptism of a William, son of Thomas and Jane Piggot, takes place on 20th December 1795, but I cannot see a Richard at the moment.

The Berkshire Records Office, has a good website.

Berkshire Enclosures

http://www.berkshireenclosure.org.uk

-----

On there you will find an ordanance map of Ruscombe dated 1832 etc showing the various enclosures and names.

It also states the Population of Ruscombe

In 1801 was 170
In 1831 was 160
In 1861 was 264

If you divide the figure of 170 by 6 (roughly one household, that equates to approx 28 families)

Queenie  :)

There seem to have been a lot of earlier Richards in Ruscombe / Wargrave. Could William have assumed the name Richard later on to honour a family member? I can't see anything further for William apart from his baptism.
