Dorset Family History Society’s Monthly Meeting
« on: Friday 04 August 23 21:00 BST (UK) »
Dorset Family History Society will be hosting a talk on Tuesday 17th October 2023 at 7.30 p.m. by MIKE RANDALL entitled ‘“TEACH THESE CHILDREN NOTHING BUT FACTS” - VICTORIAN SCHOOL LOGS’.

This talk will be a light-hearted journey through Victorian schooldays through the eyes of Victorian headmasters’ entries in the school log books. Hear entries and events that may awaken memories of our forebears tales of their schooldays experiences through the 5 ‘E’s of Education - Engagement, Enthusing, Enjoying, Excellence … or Enduring!

Discover how school log book entries of children and family names add flesh onto the bones of our ancestors to bring them back to life! Listen to the comparison of Victorian schoolchildren and amusing howlers of today!

Dorset Family History Society welcomes back Mike Randall, a local retired headmaster still involved with schools across Dorset, with a talk based on records from his last school. Mike is also a volunteer at Shire Hall Courthouse Museum in Dorchester. He has studied and researched genealogy for over 50 years and has had articles published in Family Tree Magazine.
