Update: have emailed the records office and await their reply but will need to get permission from the lady i'm helping if there's a charge. But, the person who had her in their tree has found a possible link to an Elizabeth Keeling, who had a daughter Sarah Jane in Stock in 1853 (as a single woman), and died in October 1857, buried in Stock, as Elizabeth Keeling Brown. I have bought the death certificate (too inquisitive!) where she's registered as Elizabeth Keeling alias Brown, aged 26, daughter of Joseph, ag lab, died of typhus fever (certified) in South Hanningfield, registered by Sarah Westwood, in attendance, of West Hanningfield. There was a William Brown in Buttsbury in 1859, but so far not found later, but this does seem a possible scenario.
