He served in WW1 with Royal West Kent regiment  17527.

In recruitment registers for East Surrey regiment in 1920, Discharged in 1932. 6134433 (EDIT looks like service could have been continuous)

British War Medal and Victory Medal awarded under East Surrey Regt as Pte but he later became Sgt
Married Phyllis in 1937 Marriage Certificate Copy on Ancestry
He is also on 1939 Register on Ancestry and loads more
