Joan Ethel viersen 1923-1998
« on: Saturday 05 August 23 17:00 BST (UK) »
Hello,I am hoping someone can help me,I am trying to map the family of my great auntie Joan Ethel viersen born 1923 in steyning, sussex, died in Birmingham November 1998,she was married to Richard j. Dinsdale,I think joans parents were fred viersen(sometimes spelt vierson)1885-1934,died in Brighton,he was married to Lillie Sarah crosbie 1883-1943,she also died in Brighton.
I am struggling on freds parents,I think they may have been folkert romkes viersen, born 1848 in dokkum,Holland, died in Croydon April 1889 and Sarah Ellen Ellis forge born 1863 in Grimsby, died in 1945,any help confirming all of this would be greatly appreciated, thank you Dean

Her birth reg confirms her mmn was Crosbie

Fred's birth reg is on freebmd - born London 1885  - mmn Forge

An 1881 marriage on freebmd shows his father as Fred Viersen

A copy of the 1881 marriage cert will give Fred seniors fathers name

Fred jnr is with his Forge grandparents in 1891 & Sarah is shown elsewhere as a widow with son Arthur b 1887

Found them on the 1881 living in Middlesex.  - He is Fred b Holland - British Subject.  Indexed as Vierkn on Ancestry    Aged 28 so b 1853 - occ  Commercial agent

1881 ref Piece 1376 Folio 33 Page 60

The 1881 marriage cert is your best bet re Fred seniors father but I wonder if Fred juniors marriage cert shows his father as Fred or as Folkert?  At least you would know you had the right death

Info only,

Fred/Frederick born 1885 had a brother Arthur born 1887. He married Grace Harriott Woodgate in 1912. He records his father as Fred Viersen, occupation Provision Merchant. One of the witnesses was Sarah Ellen Ellis Viersen his mother.

Arthur went on to have 2 children 1914/1920 + an adopted daughted.Arthur died 1961 and left a probate record.

A link to probably Fredericks/Folkerts birth naming parents. Also a link to a possible 1st marriage in the Netherlands prior to marrying Sarah.
