Hi there, while I was updating the names of all of their children I came upon two death certificates for the following:
Ellen b. 1845 died 27.9.1856 Coronial Inquest died from a fall running at Reedy Creek, Marengo, Binalong (Murringo was formerly named Marengo)
John b. 1850 died 15.12.1864 from a Snake bite, working as a Shepherd at Crowther (near to Young and Murringo)
These two death certificates were provided by Kalli24 on Ancestry.

There is another tree on Ancestry that suggests Elizabeth was Elizabeth HILL who married Antonio SYLVESTER in 1833 (340/1833 V1833340 17) "Cof E Berrima; Bong Bong; Sutton Forest; All Saints (Co. Camden)"

No deaths that I can see on the NSW BDM for a likely S*LVESTER between 1833 and 1843 though.  :-\

Modified to add:
There is an Anthony SILVESTER (free) who was a constable at Sutton Forest in 1834.

Hi again,
Thank you all for that information.   I have now managed to get copy of Death Certificate of Elizabeth Batson, she died 25th July, 1895 at Wingelo near Peak Hill aged 77 years.  Informant was her son James Batson of Peak Hill.  Father's name is Thomas Hill, Farmer, so where does Silvester come into this now??.    Other information is was married aged 28 years to William Batson at Goulburn.  Issue William, Annie, James living, 1 male and 2 females deceased.

Details of marriages from Nepean Family History Society is William Batson of Fish River, Batchelor and Elizabeth Silvester of Fish River, Spinster married 15/8/1843.

So this now brings Elizabeth Silvester's birth date approx 1818, not 1810  born at Windsor, was she daughter of Thomas Hill or Thomas Silvester.

I do not think that your William BATSON is the 1895 death, Milton.

The death certificate for Elizabeth BATSON, 1897, Peak Hill, would be useful for you. From online trees, Elizabeth has a married daughter at Peak Hill which would encourage you to hope that daughter has good imput to the death certificate and reliable information.

This birth Certificate -
BATSON Emily J  J11580/1858
parents William / Elizabeth      @ Queanbeyan

would be useful to you because civil registration started in NSW in 1856 and recorded good information about parents eg age, birthplace, previous issue born to the couple.

You do not need a record for every BDM event, but you need something to further your research.

Could she have been born Hill and if her mother remarried and she used her stepfather's surname of Silvester when she married??

Yes that is possible, it seems that James Batson the son didn't know the Mother's name on the death certificate.

I cannot find a death for her husband William Batson either.  If he was in a Benevolent Asylum in 1871, you would think he may not have lived many more years, but no record of his death.

Information given by maddys52 might explain the two surnames IF it's her  -

Elizabeth HILL married 1833 to  Antonio SYLVESTER, (340/1833 V1833340 17) "Cof E Berrima; Bong Bong; Sutton Forest; All Saints (Co. Camden)"

He advertises that his wife, Elizabeth has left him in 1842
https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/31734888

NSW BMD 1843#390/V1843390 27C
William BATSON, Elizabeth SILVESTER

Dates fit quite well, with Elizabeth marrying Silvester aged about 15 - not unusual in those days.  All in roughly similar geographic area.  The son (informant on her death certificate) may not have known that she had been married before marrying William.

So perhaps we're looking for a Thomas HILL as her father?
