You have HILL as father's name for Elizabeth BATSON, died 1895, with William BATSON as informant.

It would be useful to see this name recorded during Elizabeth's life time.

Your information at reply #15  and relating to the death of Ellen 1856, and John 1864 -

" their death certificates show the Mother's maiden name as Hill"

It would be useful to see these death certificates on the tree created by Kalli24

What name does Kalli24 give to this tree so that I can see these documents.?

Thank you Judith, yes I think the death certificate does lend weight to the theory that the HILL/SYLVESTER marriage is the same Elizabeth. It would be good to find the marriage - if she was under age it may have permission from father. The certificate from the NSW BDM may not have this information on it, however the parish record if it still exists should.

Hi Wivenhoe,
Sorry I didn't answer your question last night, I've tried to find where I got that information from now, and would you believe I just cannot see where. Somewhere along the line this Kalli24 had this info online.   I will keep looking.  But however, there is the Hill surname again, so must be the connection.

Am thinking though, if Elizabeth was a Hill before and married Sylvester, so far haven't found any children of that marriage, she married 10 years before and had several children with Batson.  Maybe they didn't have any children.

Thank you for the link.

Looking at this tree -

https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/person/tree/105482465/person/250044708969/facts

I do not see any death certificate with Elizabeth BATSON to be recorded as Elizabeth HILL, mother.

You have one record of her name as HILL. The death certificate is information recorded after she died. You need to see Elizabeth's name on the birth certificate of a child born 1856+ to see how her name is recorded during her lifetime, and ideally, recorded by herself ie Elizabeth is informant.

if you look in the gallery for Ellen BATSON, there is a transcript of her death certificate - that names mother as nee HILL.
Plus also transcript of her baptism, which has dates of birth for other siblings baptised at the same time.

Transcript for John's death 1864 is also in his gallery and says mother was formerly HILL

Could this be a possible child from Elizabeth's first marriage (IF it is her)?

1840 #A1651/1840 V18401651 25A
Mary A SILVESTER, parents: ANTONY, ELIZABETH MI  (MI - Church of England, Gundaroo; Gunning; Yass, same area as the other records)

It's possible that there were other children unregistered, given the difficulties of travel etc. back then
