Administration record found on the GRO site but am being told there isn't one

I found the record I want to order on Ancestry but the GRO site doesn't bring it up. I went back to Ancestry and made a note of the previous and following entries and searched for one of those on the GRO site.

Up it comes and the record I want is also there but the GRO site is insistent that there is no record under that name.

Has anyone else had this problem and found a way round it?

Hi, I have had a similar experience. I spoke to the gro and they informed me that if I knew the names, dates and reference numbers they would be able to trace. They did and found what was required. Do you wish us on rootschat to double check for you. If so what names and dates do you have.

Have you tried searching the GRO site a year either side of the date?  Since they revamped the site there have been lots of problems.

They are supposed to be sorted in year of death order as that is the year you put in your search but this doesn’t always happen.  Somebody who dies say - October 1965 but whose probate is only granted 1966 can often be found in 1966!!

Are you looking on the right website?
GRO doesn't have any wills or administrations. You need the probate service

Does it matter though?
Via the other two, you have the image with your person on the probate site.
Can you not just then fill in the details of your person -  name, date of probate (administration)/death, registry, and order?
