Lost lady from Keighley
« on: Tuesday 08 August 23 09:47 BST (UK) »
Enquiring for a friend. Family member Emma Jane Midgley born Keighley 1870 and died 14 Nov 1940 at High Royds Hospital Menston. My friend would like to find her burial place and has looked at burial records for the High Royds Burial ground, and for the cemeteries at Utley (Keighley), Morton (Keighley) and Oakworth (Keighley).  Might be cremation, but not sure how to access records and would welcome any suggestions  and advice  Many thanks

As you know her exact death date you could contact the records office to see if they can help - they may charge so check first

This is always a tricky problem. The funeral and burial / cremation would usually be organised by a family member or close friend of the deceased, so could be anywhere of their choosing, unless the  deceased had left specific instructions in a will or other document. Has a will (if any) been checked?
She could be buried with other family members who predeceased her. Have you checked local newspapers for that time period? Although as it was war-time there might be more pressing news in them

Lanark: Scott (soldier went to Jersey CI)
