Comments on Ancestry.com
« on: Tuesday 08 August 23 20:28 BST (UK) »
Is anyone else having a problem with adding comments? I get a box saying add a comment or mention@. Trying to type in the box has no effect.

Whereabouts are you trying to add comments? I added comments to a photo in my tree just 10 minutes ago with no problems.

Trying to add them to a person’s page, or profile, or whatever they call it. I click on view comments, and a side window appears showing comments I’ve already added, with, at the bottom, what looks like a box to add another.

On a person's page, under the Tools tab (top right) select view comments, and the 'add a comment' box opens as you say, you can add comments no problem. Are you trying to edit facts?

The box opens containing this: Add a comment or @mention  @. If I click in the box it all goes away except the @ at the end. No flashing cursor, and I haven’t found a way to type there.

It used to work fine. I’ve been trying to add a seventh comment on someone; obviously it worked for the previous six.

Thanks for your interest.

Strange, you should have a flashing cursor in the box. ???

Just tested mine. Working fine.
Have you done the usual.  Log out of everything. And turn off and restart.
Perhaps there is a maximum word count for comments and you have reached it.

Thanks, mckha. I did the usual; it didn’t help.

And it isn’t just where I’ve already written a lot. I get the same thing trying to add a comment where there are none yet. Or did you mean a limit on all comments I add anywhere?

It looks as if I’ll have to try to talk to a human being at Ancestry …

I assume you are trying to add comments to your tree. Have you tried adding a comment to another persons tree or asking someone else to add a comment to your tree?
It may help to show where the problem lies.
