Horrocks family travel to USA & back mystery help please…

Hello there,

I’m at a crossroads and need help re the following information.

I’m Looking for information on the Horrocks family in particular Ellen Horrocks b 22 June 1892 in Massachusetts daughter of Edwin & Elizabeth.

Edwin travelled from England to US in 1890 and is listed alone on the Kansas Steam boat. Between then and 1892 his daughter Ellen is born. Ellen next appears in Bolton Uk on the 1901 Census living with Edwin’s mother and family. Her father Edwin remarried in 1899 to Ellen Heaps and is recorded as a widow on their marriage certificate.

Questions raised are
 1. Did Edwin marry Elizabeth in the US? (Can’t locate a marriage)
2. Did Elizabeth travel with Edwin in 1890
3. Did Elizabeth die in US or Uk

I’ve found a death record of an Elizabeth Jane Horrocks in Bolton 1894 wife of Edwin age 25yrs as a possibility.

Also found a marriage of Edwin Horrocks and Elizabeth Jane Bullock 1888 in Bolton.

I can’t find any ships passenger lists featuring Elizabeth & Edwin as a couple (don’t have a premium Ancestry account yet) perhaps they didn’t list the spouse I don’t know.. any help much appreciated

Presume this is what you saw - Edwin Horrocks - Migration  United Kingdom, Outgoing Passenger Lists, 1890-1960 was for a single man born in 1864    - departing 14 May 1890 Liverpool to Boston.
If the birth is correct then the couple arrived earlier.

Thanks Sandra, yes that’s the ship list I’ve seen. The marriage between Edwin & Elizabeth in 1888 suggests they emigrated soon after..
