Is this another rabbit hole

COWIN, MARY       mmn KNIGHT
GRO Reference: 1915  S Quarter in CROYDON  Volume 02A  Page 438

Appears in 1921 as a niece of Ernest Arthur Love & Edith Margaret Love. They married 1904 Isle of Man, Edith's maiden name Cowin.

LOVE, BRIAN  THOMAS     COWIN
GRO Reference: 1919  J Quarter in PRESCOT  Volume 08B  Page 1157

Wonder if Edith Margaret is a sister to Frances??

John

Possibly Edith Margaret in 1901
Piece 5308, Folio 5, page 1

If Mary Cowin has mmn Knights, Edith Cowin would be the sister of Mary's father,

No, It could still be a lead if Edith Margaret has a brother Henry Cowin who had a relationship with Frances Knights, or a marriage elsewhere. If IOM connection is right, an Irish marriage isn't too unlikely

Can't see Edith with a brother Henry, but she did have a younger brother Daniel. Could take us back to the Daniel Cowin m Fanny Knight? Possibly not, as an Ancestry tree has Daniel married to a Gertrude Inglis.

Edit:

She may have had a much older brother Henry/Harry, but he seems to have married in 1884.

Thank you so much to everyone who has taken the time to reply and to help - I really appreciate it.

I am away from home for a week so don’t have any notes/paperwork with me, but will reply to questions and/or comments then.

Frances’ marriage to Geoffrey (Chevill/Chevell) Lawrence and their life together has been fairly straightforward to dig into. Also, my father remembers a few bits and pieces about them. It’s Henry - and his relationship with Frances - that’s the big unknown.

Frances was the informant on Barbara’s birth certificate (I’m fairly sure but will check next week).

Thanks again. Some interesting possibilities that I’m looking forward to following up!

Checking in again to say that I've asked my dad to have a read through of this thread to see what he thinks.

Also, I'll order a copy of the 1922 marriage certificate between Frances and Geoffrey, per a suggestion from a few of you.
