Margaret Cruickshank Hepburn BISSET 1889-?
« on: Thursday 10 August 23 08:36 BST (UK) »
This lady arrived in Ontario about 1910, married James DUGUID in Sep 1913 in Toronto.

James rejoined the British army at the start of WW1 and was killed in France in October 1914.

I can find Margaret in Toronto in the 1921 Canadian census, but after that nothing. Her older sister Mary BISSET was with her having arrived in June 1920.

Found Mary Ann's death in 1942 and the informant is Margaret DUGUID, sister. Can't find Margaret's death so probably after 1948, which is as far as the Ontario deaths go up to.

Can anyone find anything else about Margaret. Her parents were Andrew BISSET and Mary THOMSON.

Thanks

Have you checked with Pine Hills Cemetery to see if Margaret Duguid is buried with Mary Bissett ?

Thanks Sandra.

Managed to find the Pine Hills database and find that Margaret is buried there as well, in 1965. No death info though.

Hi.  Obit in the Toronto Star on March 30 1965.

It says she died on March 29 1965 at the Scarboro General Hospital.  Margaret Bissett, wife of the late James Duguid, aunt of Catherine Bissett and Jeanne (Mrs J Broome),  great aunt of B (Mrs K Brown), and J Broome.  Friend of Violet Roulston.  Interment Pine Hills.

Great RK.  :)

1953 Voters List shows a Margaret Duguid (operator) with Catherine Bissett (plant nurse) - 96 Glencrest Blvd. York East Toronto. (also a Violet Roulston (secretary) at same address.

Thanks everyone.

Was wondering who Catherine and Jeanne belong to, but after a little search in the Ontario marriages find they are daughters of Mary Ann and Margaret's brother Andrew Keith BISSET, and arrived in 1921.

Both buried in Pine Hills as well.
