Thank You DCB,

As I mentioned earlier George CAWSTON was acquitted on 29/07/1842, confirmed by official court records and the Bury and Norwich Post.........sadly, the Ipswich Journal was incorrect.   Please refer to the remand report in the earlier 23/07/1842 edition of the Ipswich Journal where "George" is correctly identified.

It did seem odd. The correct wording is in the Bury and Norwich Post 3 August 1842.

William Cawston, 14, pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing a gold ring, one sovereign, and one shilling, the property of Nassau Wenn, of Bury St. Edmund's; one Months' solitary confinement, and to be once severely whipped.
George Cawston was aquitted on a charge of receiving the above gold ring, knowing it to have been stolen.

Also a pre trial report

Ipswich Journal 23 July 1842
COMMITTED TO BURY GAOL. - William Cawston and George Cawston, by J. Ridley and H. Le Grice, Esqr.; the said William Cawston being charged with stealing a gold ring, a sovereign, and a shilling, the property of Mr. George Nassau Wenn, of Bury; and the said George Cawston being charged with receiving the said gold ring, knowing the same to have been stolen.
