Arthur Hughes/Rose Flynn/Flinn
« on: Friday 11 August 23 14:14 BST (UK) »
This couple married in Haggardson in 1833.
They had John 1834 and Mathew 1836, both baptised Louth. Usual address Dublin.
They then show in Liverpool 1841 with Arthur born Wirral c1840. No older sons mentioned
In 1851 census Rose is a widow with dgt Rose, Arthur died 1849 and is buried with dgt Elizabeth aged 7. No older sons mentioned
In 1861 census Arthur is with Partick Carolan and wife Margaret nee Hughes and is nephew..so mgt will be sister of Arthur.
I can't find these 2 older boys John and Mathew. I assume they died very young.
I would also love to know the parents of Arthur and Margaret  - that's a work in progress. !!!!
Thanks for reading this
Elaine

Yes that would be my first thought too.  Possibly in Ireland before they came to England but you can check any GRO deaths for them in Wirral area pre 1841 just in case **

** there's a John age 3 in Jun 1838 but impossible to say if he is the right person at this stage.

Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

Hi, thanks for the reply. I was just looking at the possibility they died once in England. I didn't find anything, some of the records don't give ages. I'm just going to assume they did die as infants.
Now going to find couple who had an Arthur and a Margaret with dates that fit. Annoying as sometimes the Catholic records give the name of father. But not in the case of Margaret when she married Patrick Carolan.l
Both Arthur and Margaret had son Mathew which maybe a clue. Both had daughter Elizabeth. This will keep me busy.
Thanks again
Elaine

Patrick Carolan married Margaret Hughes at St Peter’s, Church of England, Liverpool. Unfortunately just before the longer records were used.

Hi, yes I did. It was spelt ..son on a record and I just copied it and then saw correct spelling when I searched on ancestry. So, I've got record of marriage. Thanks 😊

Ha, so not resident Dublin. Dublin Street, Dundalk. That's good to know as I've promised myself I'd visit there. Thanks
Sure someone put Drogheda as birthplace. Could have been Rose flynn. I've always been fascinated with Drogheda since that was name of ranch in the thorn birds, you have to be a certain age to remember that!! Amazing to think I've family ties there.
Hopefully I will make some progress with Arthur and Margaret and post my findings.
Thanks
