Is it possible that the grandfather who died circa 1962 was Ken’s maternal grandfather?
Amos seems to fit so many of the details, except for that earlier death.

Thank you all for your replies.
It was definitely Ken's paternal grandfather. 
Going back on the messages I have from Ken he said that he thinks his older brother frederick had the same name as his grandfather.
 Amos had a brother called frederick which I can't find much about. Maybe it was him .
Ken's grandmother definitely died in Egypt while giving birth due to preeclampsia.  Ken said he had seen the death certificate many years ago.

With so much discounted information being given by us I think the only way you can get the true facts is to purchase the 1926 birth certificate from the GRO
