You now have more than sufficient information to get his Service Record. However as his parent corps was REME, You should contact the National Archives for his records as these have been transferred to TNA and are in WO 420.
Not all the records have been indexed, so nothing appears in the Discovery search for 2320471 G Smith, although there are dozens of G Smiths.

I’m so pleased to find out what Regiment Uncle George was in, that he was awarded an MBE and will follow up the leads suggested.
