Thanks Sandra
Is there a Gunnislake address on the records as I believe the family were also living there?

thanks again Sandra
Is it possible to trace JOHN RUNDLE's parents/grandparents ?
Not sure how this is done without access to Census records - is this where the OPC's can support?

Have you tried looking on family search ?  Free, just register. Loads of records on there.

Hi
In the 1881 census I see Sophia Rundle (30) as Head and 'George' is down but with a line through his name. Description next to Sophia in occupation is 'sailors wife'.
So is a reasonable assumption that George was alive but onboard a ship somewhere?
If so, can Rootschat help to find his service records so I can see where he went and when he returned back to England?
Thanks
Drobbo

Thanks again Sandra
Looking at John Rundle born in 1815 believe Loddiswell is Devon not Cornwall so wondered how I could access his parents/grandparents. I have tried to contact the OPC for Loddiswell without success. Any ideas how I can try to trace the birth records so I can identify parent names? Regards Drobbo

I have located, via Find My Past, a JOHN RUNDLE born in 1814 (not 1815 as Sandra mentioned above but could be the same person) Loddiswell and parents quoted as THOMAS and SOPHIA.

There appears to be a marriage of THOMAS RUNDLE in 1806 Loddiswell but I can't see the transcript as I don't have a paid subscription to Find My Past.

Find My Past also shows two baptism records for THOMAS RUNDLE 1773 and 1775 - the 1773 one also has a date of death in 1843 in Loddiswell which may be the THOMAS who is JOHN's father?

Any ideas how I could check this please?

Check at your local library if they subscribe to the library edition of FindMyPast.
Then as a library member, you can view the FindMyPast images of the original parish registers and hopefully download for your personal reference.

Most of Devon is online behind the FindMyPast paywall.
Some is online member only at Devon Family History Society.

Lots of the bishops transcripts are viewable online at familysearch but there are huge gaps in early years. You can find those pages online by searching for images, and nominating the parish.
I have not tested this for your area of interest, as that is for you to do ;)

Happy hunting,
Janelle
