Tracy family of NB, Canada & Rhode Island, USA

Has anyone figured out the James William Tracy (1828-) born in St Martins, St John Co, New Brunswick, his grand-children moved to Rhode Island and I think the family records may have gone with them.

It seems there was two William & Elizabeth Tracy families in St Martins at the same time, William (widower) in Div 1 and Elizabeth (widow of William) in Div 2 in the 1871 census.

I am hoping to connect James William Tracy to his parents, and this is where I have hit the wall.  Is he connected to one of the two William & Elizabeths' and some think his father is Gilbert Tracy, who is Gilbert?
