Mary Hayes (nee Fleet, later Thomas 1793 - ?) Liverpool
« on: Sunday 13 August 23 14:58 BST (UK) »
If anyone can help find what happened to Mary I would be very grateful... :)

She was born in 1793 in Tarporley, Cheshire, daughter of James, a Tailor and Phoebe (nee Arden).

On 12 November 1822 at St Anne, Liverpool, I believe she married John Hayes, a Sailmaker and they lived in Duke Street, Liverpool.

There were 3 children that I can find - Anne (1824), John (1825) and Esther (1826 - 1827)

John Snr. was buried on 28 April 1827 at St Michael, Liverpool and after that I have lost Mary and her son and daughter, save that Mary remarries to a Thomas Thomas (a victualler) on 4 June 1844 at St Peter's

If anyone could find what happened to them?

Thank you  :)

There is a Thomas Thomas death in Liverpool 1853 but not checked the age yet,

One of the marriage witnesses looks like Christianah? Thomas.

Which leads to possible 1851 in Liverpool - as transcribed

Thomas Thomas head 58 victualler
Mary Thomas wife 28?
Robert Thomas son 21
Christiana Leaver dau 29
George Chas Leaver nephew 5

so something to work on there

Mary Thomas is one of the witnesses to the marriage of

Christiana Thomas to Henry Leaver in 1845

but is this "your" Mary  :-\  her birthplace in 1851 is given as Wetford Flintshire same as Thomas

Well the residence at time of marriage for Thomas is given as Old Ropery and the 1851 census address is 9 Old Ropery so can be confident this is the same Thomas who married your Mary.

Mar 1853 age 61 so that would fit with 1851 census

Thank you!  The only thing that throws me off is the place of birth and the date on the 1851 census as she would have been about 58 not 28 (enumerator mistake?) , but the marriage certificate to Thomas Thomas in 1844 confirms her father as James Fleet, a Tailor as well as the Old Ropery address for Thomas.

I wonder if Wetford is meant to be Whitford...I mean it is still a hike from Tarporley as its out near Holywell and I know of nil family connection there.

It could just be lazy recording in that the same birthplace for Thomas was put for her by mistake.

There are some Mary Thomas deaths in Liverpool 1851-1861 to check against her age.
Plus she could be buried with Thomas if we can find where that was.
