Henry Skrittion (Scrutton) William Hubbart
« on: Sunday 13 August 23 17:58 BST (UK) »
Henry Skritton was baptised at St Mary, Great Blackenham on 21/06/1821
His mother was Elizabeth Scrutton and the father on the baptism bb / father William Hubbart, Labourer
Who was William Hubbart/Hubbard?
Henry Scrutton appears on the 1841 Census at Coddenham Vicarage, Coddenham, Bosmere & Claydon, Suffolk, with the Longe family
(John Longe wrote diaries and trained people for the ministry The Diary of John Longe, vicar of Coddenham, 1765-1834 (Suffolk Records Society, 51)
His mother Elizabeth died in 1821
I can trace Henry throughout the other census records to his death in 1908 and he married Rachel Osborn and later Louisa Grand.  He might have been Henry Thomas Scrutton but I can’t verify that

Help in finding Henry’s father please. Many thanks

How old was Elizabeth?  Any occ for William on the baptismal record?

If we assume an 1800 birthyear or thereabouts for William - allowing for the rounded down birthyears on the 1841 census there are 4 possibilities in Suffolk using Hub*  All matches were Hubbard - not Hubbart

Any father shown on Henry's marriage cert?

Re fathers name - I was referring to Henry's marriage cert - you say he had 2 marriages.

The marriage to Rachel was 1849 & the one to Louisa Grand in 1881.  On both he is just Henry

I noticed that Herbert Henry Grand aged 29 married in 1891 but gave his fathers name as Henry Scrutton on his marriage cert (Herbert was Louisa's illegitimate son)

Elizabeth Scrutton was born 1798 so assuming William Hubbard was a similar age there's only one on the 1851 - b 1800 unmarried - agric labourer.  That assumes he was from Suffolk

There is a tree on Ancestry which says he was b 1800 Blakenham & died New York 1882???
