Cropping a pdf to post to RootsChat handwriting board?

I’d like some advice please. How can I crop out some small extracts from a PCC will in pdf format, so that I can post them here on RootsChat?

Use the Windows Snipping Tool and attach your image as a jpeg file.

Thanks, that explains why I’m stumped trying to do it on iPad. I’ll try it tomorrow when I get my laptop out. (I use a really handy app on iPad called Goodreader, very good for organising files, but I don’t think it can handle this sort of task.)

On an iPad, take a screen shot (briefly press the main button [whatever it’s called] and the on/off switch together) and this will create a picture in Photos. You can trim it with the edit tools there. Then your problems are likely to start! I’m not sure whether you can actually post an iPad photo on Rootschat; isn’t there some sort of problem in Rootschat accepting iPad generated names?

If you have no luck with the above, try a free online PDF crop and converter. I just gave it a try and what it does is simply crop, then you download: https://www.hipdf.com/crop-pdf

If you need to convert it to jpg or any other type of file, try Convertio, you get several free conversions a day: https://convertio.co/

Adobe, a trusted name, offers free PDF conversions too.

On an iPad
Crop it to suit
Save it to Files or Photos
Load it from there
BUT
As you see it is a high pixel x pixel image that I would normally use another App to resize to suit RC.
This file has not been changed to jpg it is a png

Thanks all for your suggestions, I’ll try these various manoeuvres. I think that I might have managed to post a snip yesterday (as a screen shot from the iPad, which I reduced with an online image compressor), but having already tried to post the same image when too large, I just kept getting the message that the file name was already in use, even though I had tried to rename it.  ???

That’s as I said. You can’t change the name of photos on an iPad.
