Trying to understand part of a Service Record
« on: Thursday 17 August 23 13:22 BST (UK) »
Hello Folks.

I recently got hold of my Grandfather's Service Record and I understand all but one part of it.

Under Section 25. Mentions in Dispatches and Special Instances of Gallant Conduct. There is the acronym FINS and numbers. My Grandfather only served in a combat zone once, when he was deployed to Cyprus between January 1956 and January 1957 as part of the Royal Army Service Corps as a Driver. I've not managed to find any evidence he was ever Mentioned in Dispatches so I was wondering if anyone was able to shed any light on the Acronym and meaning of the the numbers?

Thanks in advance.
