John Watson - Steamship - Chief Engineer
« on: Saturday 19 August 23 08:23 BST (UK) »
I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction. I am trying to find who would keep the records for Marine Engineers. I know that John Watson b. 1830 was Chief Engineer on the SS Lisboa in 1860, and that he was sailing on the Australia run and the Canada run from letters. However he does not seem to show up in any Ancestry crew lists and I would like to dig deeper.
PS He lived in Lanarkshire, hence the Scottish post.

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
