Had another look at it, I agree with Ciderdrinker - it is Samuel

That's interesting as there are a few Reeves baptisms in Thundridge with Samuel as father

If this is Samuel's 2nd marriage after Mary died, we're probably looking for a Samuel b abt 1700 ish. Maybe he's Jonas snr's brother, and he named a son after him in 1719. Thundridge isn't a big place, so I wouldn't be surprised if the Reeves were all related.
