GLASGOW family
« on: Sunday 20 August 23 12:28 BST (UK) »
Robert GLASGOW married Mary LAMB at Kelso, Roxburgh, Scotland in 1825.

They had seven children when they came to NZ on the Bombay in 1842. No names, just Mr Robert GLASGOW, his wife and seven children.

I have found these:
John 1827-1911
Adam 1830-1880
Elizabeth 1831-1894
Isabella 1834-1920
Mary Maria 1836-1920
Ann 1838-1904
Annabella 1841-??

Various online trees have the seventh child as Janet but nothing can be found for her on the NZ BDMs. One source said she married and lived in the Blenheim area.

Can't find an Annabella in NZ either except for a daughter of the son John, who married William Alexander Xavier COUPER in 1881.

Can anyone find anything for Annabella or Janet born 1841.

Thanks
Ian C

You most probably have the family on the 1841 census Manchester ?
Gro.gov.record

Annabella Glasgow 1841 Chorlton Lancashire mothers maiden name Lamb

Not seeing a baptism for her all the other children's baptisms can be found up to 1842

Yes you would think Annabella would have been baptised along with Elizabeth in 1842  :-\

Perhaps she died as a young baby or on the journey but there should be a death record for her if so.

Yes that's what I thought ??? Counting the children on the immigration record would include Annabella as number 7

I think Annabella Glasgow could possibly have died on the journey
The UK Registers of deaths at sea start from 1844_1890
Unless there is a record kept elsewhere

Hi Ian

Think Annabella was this one > known as "Annie".

Married 1859 -- Annie GLASGOW - James Wilson Thompson HOGG

Died 1927 - aged 85 =  bc 1842

Buried at Wanganui Old Cemetery [/s]
Edited: My error - this death was for WRONG Annie HOGG  ::)

Annie HOGG - nee GLASGOW

Have just skimmed over a tree or two ... which have Annie HOGG as being d/o Robert GLASGOW and Mary LAMB.     [But these show her birth 1838 in Lancashire ??   Seems odd ??  ]  You might want to check out further.   ;D

Will of Robert GLASGOW - 1877

A lengthy read  ;D (only skimmed a few pages)  ... but amongst the bequests, one made to
daughter > Ann HOGG - widow of James HOGG ...
