Just spotted his DOB Feb. 1899 so if he attested Feb. 1917 would be around his 18th. birthday.
Maybe G/dau. was right.
Looked at the 5th. S. Lancs. diary for 1917 & the was a draft of 257 men in Aug. 1917 &
300 in Jan. 1918.
No ID. of Regts.
Great, so the demobilisation account would just cover S. Lancs?

His g/dau sent me a photo of his medals, badges etc., which I'll attach. Some are also from WWII (some could be his son's). I haven't been able to identify a few of them, and maybe there could be something of relevance as I recognise KSLI and S. Lancs on at least one badge.
Thank you again for your time

P.S.: I think I will start a topic in Armed Forces to see if anyone can confirm identification of the badges
Edit: Here it is: https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=875833.27

The Fleur de Lis cap badge is Manchester Regt.
The bugle is his KSLI cap badge & the last one his I.D. tag.
Fight the Good Fight badge is Church Lads Brigade.
The horse is Yorks. Regt.
The death's head is Lancers.
The last Fleur de Lis is 3rd. Carabiniers.
The closest I can get to the oak leaf is Beds. & Herts. Regt.
There seems to be a mix of WW1 & WW2.

Oh great thanks
Do you think it is possible they are all Thomas's or would some have to be his son's?

A correction, the oak leaf is Beds. & Herts. Regt.
I would say the KSLI is his Dad's & the others his
as some are definitely WW2.

Given that the badges which aren't directly linked to KSLI have a Royal Armoured Corps or cavalry feel about them, can I offer two alternatives to Jim's suggestions:
The horse could also be the Northamptonshire Yeomanry (The South Notts Hussars)
which then links to Jim's first suggestion about the acorn (signifying the regiment's connection with Nottingham Forest) having similiarities to the South Notts Hussars badge.

I originally put S. Notts. Hussars but Beds. & Herts. looked a better match.
The Badge I looked at has been misnamed Beds. & Herts. so yes I would agree
S.Notts.

Jim,
Where did you find the Beds and Herts acorn - do you have an example? The only badge I associate with them is the stag within the Maltese Cross emblem
