Was he to old?
« on: Tuesday 22 August 23 18:37 BST (UK) »
Hi
I have been searching for the death of my Great Grandfather Edward Lynch, born in Glasgow, 19 May 1866.

All the hints on Ancestry point to
 Edward Lynch
Reg Number 9859
Sergeant, Royal Irish Fusiliers.
Killed in action, Egypt
7 Nov 1917

That would have made him around 51 when he died. I have read that there was no conscription at that age until after 1918?

Are there any records I can look at to prove that it is my Grt Grandfather.

Thanks

Lynch Ireland, Scotland, Lancashire.   Whittle, Lancashire.   Day, Oxfordshire, Lancashire.  Norman, Ireland, India   Smith, Lancashire.    Bottomley, Yorkshire.  Walker, Scotland, U.S.A New Jersey, Lancashire.   Brennan, Ireland, Lancashire.

Thank you so much Tazzie.

I did have a feeling he wasn't my relative.

I just needed it proving either way.

Thanks again.

1933 electoral has
Edward Lynch, Mrs. Mary Lynch, Alexander Lynch at 44 Oregon Street

1939 has
Edward Lynch, Mrs. Mary Lynch at 39 Kinning Street

So if it's the right Edward it leaves the 1949 death

Thanks everyone

I have managed to find the family on Scotlandspeople. (1911/1921 census) John lynch on the Census was my Grandfather.

I also found Edwards death it was the one from Gorbals.

All the information everyone has given me is a match. Thank you I appreciate your help.

I will check the information about Margaret.

Now I'm on a roll I will never get to bed :)
