to the Houstons; William m. 1812 Margaret Houstoun, dau of Andrew Houstoun, merchant; Margaret died 10/2/1855.
William and Margaret raised their niece and nephew, Margaret Victoria Houstoun, b. 1827 and William Houstoun, b. 1828,
the children of a different Andrew Houstoun and Marie Victoria Goulard. The children were born in Grenada.
Houstouns were a wealthy family involved in trade and government. Refer to Houstouns of Clerkington.

I cannot promise that the genealogy of the Shawfield Bank family is 100% accurate as the same names
seemed to run in the family, but I would say that it is at least 80% OK. Anyway, it is a start.
The Houstoun family is extremely interesting, although only related through marriage.
This family was very well connected. As I stated earlier, I believe that the Gow family was also connected. I will
check a few notes to make sure.
