Thanks to you all for this! I’m totally new to family trees! I need to go on ancestry to create a tree, also to get credits on Scotland’s people to view all of the certificates.
I also have my mothers paternal line of Kinnell’s to search for but that’s for another day!

Hello to all who have kindly posted!

I’m not sure if I need to subscribe to Scotlands people or ancestry or both to be able to view more records, any suggestions?

You don't need to go on Ancestry to create a tree. There are many other commercial sites which offer a similar service, some of them free of charge. Or you can keep your tree privately on your own computer. There's plenty of software for doing this.

And you can't 'subscribe' to Scotland's People. It is not a subscription site. It's pay-per-view, but modestly priced and you get digital images of original documents instantly.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
