Immigration and family information
« on: Thursday 24 August 23 22:54 BST (UK) »
Gerhard Neuhaus born in Borbeck  or Kessel in Essen Germany in 1842.
He came to America in 1882 from Antwerp.  He settled in Salt Lick  Perry county Ohio. I can't find any immigration info on him. His wife and family came later.
Also I can't find any info on his parents or siblings.
Any information will be very helpful.
Thanks!!

Welcome to Rootschat.

There is a tree on Familysearch which names parents. His naturalisation says he came to USA in October 1881.

A passport application for him in 1906

I cannot read name of ship listed on his passport application.  I have tried every port coming in to US at that time but no success. Not sure what spelling is.

I cant find any information about parents. Just names but nothing else.
I have tried contacting church but no response.

Thank you for your suggestions.  Not sure where else to check

I have contacted St. Dionysius but never received answer.
Is there a better way to find out?

Thank you!

Just found this info. The church books are not accessible at the moment.

https://www.bistum-essen.de/info/bistum/bistumsarchiv/kirchebuecher-im-archiv-des-bistums-essen

From July 17, 2023, the church registers of St. Gertrud Essen and St. Dionysius Essen-Borbeck will be out of the office for digitization. Research in these two inventories is not possible either through the diocese archive or independently by users.

There was an immigrant ship 'Fritz Reuter' sailing about that time.
